The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark
Aim
Preach and embody the good news of His unconditional love for all of us and for all of creation.
History
The history of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark is intertwined with that of the global Church, in particular other Lutheran churches. From the introduction of Christianity in 960 CE over the Reformation and the Constitution from 1849 to recent events, the history of the church is marked by both celebration and mourning.
IRD Activities
- DanChurch Interfaith Relations
This is a collaboration between a number of dioceses. It helps explore what it means to be a Christian and to be Church in a multicultural and multi-religious society. Dialogue cafés are organised with people from different religious backgrounds. The dialogue includes Muslims as well as people who are inspired by Eastern religions. This work has three main focus areas: a. Christian Identity (explores the relationship between Christian faith, identity and living), b. Building Bridges (events are meant to encourage people to talk with each other instead of talking about each other), c. The Mission of the Church (involved in mission through presence, through dialogue and action).
