SISTER EMILY (EMELINE) TANNOUS

Sister Emily (Emeline) Tannous is a member of the religious order dedicated to Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, founded in Lebanon in 1853 and currently coordinator of the Theological and Ecumenical Department in MECC. Committed to the pastoral life in the church and to ecumenical, interfaith and intercultural relations, Sister Tannous works mainly in the field of education in schools, colleges and universities. Highly engaged in the defence of human rights, and more specifically women’s and children’s rights, Sister Tannous is an active member in several organizations in the Middle East that promote diversity and citizenship, including MECC, ADYAN (religious leaders), KAICIID, AVSI, UNICEF in Lebanon, World Vision, GNRC, “Arigatou foundation”, University Pastoral Service, KAFA and ABAAD to name some. As a consecrated person, Sister Emily has had beautiful experiences, and can share life witness about collaboration in a pluralistic context that aims at building peace and bridges between different people.
