IRD Activities

  • Dialogue for Peace

The World Scout Organization of the Scouts Movement and KAICIID Centre have committed to promote, individually and jointly, dialogue among followers of different religions and cultures, as well as related initiatives, with a view of strengthening mutual understanding, tolerance, respect, peaceful coexistence, cooperation, development and rapprochement of societies, ultimately contributing to a culture of peace

  • World Scout Inter-religious Forum

The World Scout Inter-religious Forum (WSIF) first started its work informally in 1997 when preparing for the World Scout Jamboree in Chile (1999). The Forum has since continued to grow and aims to group together all the religions and beliefs represented in Scouting. There are eight main religious groups represented in the World Scout Inter-religious Forum. In addition to the work these groups are doing individually for each faith group in the world, WSIF also does the following: organise and run the inter-religious activities during World Scout Jamborees and World Scout Moots, organise the World Scout Inter-religious Symposiums, and contribute to work on spiritual and religious development (including publishing documents and guidelines) by World Scouting. The WSIF meets annually to coordinate their work. The Forum does a valuable contribution to strengthening the quality of spirituality in Scouting and working for peace and global understanding

  • World Scout Inter-religious Symposium

The World Scout Inter-religious Symposium (WSIS) is a gathering of representatives of National Scout Organizations and religious networks, some of which have Consultative Status with the World Scout Committee. The WSIS helps reinforce the value of Scouting as an institution promoting inter-religious dialogue, tolerance, solidarity, and peace. The WSIS furthers co-operation and understanding of interreligious issues throughout the Scout Movement. The World Scout Inter-religious Symposium takes place every three years in a different country and is coordinated by the World Scout Inter-religious Forum (a network of religious organisations in Scouting). The first one took place in Spain in 2003.
