Aim

Encourage fellowship among all the branches of the Religious Society of Friends.

History

In 1937, after years of concerned work to reconnect a fragmented Quaker world, the Second World Conference of Friends created the FWCC “to act in a consultative capacity to promote better understanding among Friends the world over.” Today, Friends from yearly meetings and groups in 75 nations continue this work. Around the world there are four cooperating, autonomous FWCC Sections serving Africa, the Americas, Asia & the West Pacific, and Europe & the Middle East. FWCC’s World Office is in London. Since 1948, FWCC has had “consultative” status with the United Nations and is responsible for the two Quaker UN Offices in Geneva and New York.

  • Quaker United Nations Summer School

    The Quaker United Nations Summer School provides the opportunity for a group of 25 young people to come together to learn more about Quaker work at the international level, and to witness the United Nations in action, as part of a dynamic 12-day residential programme. The school is opened for applicants of all nationalities, faiths and identities, and seeks to be inclusive for all.The programme is grounded in QUNO Geneva’s work, with a focus on Peace, Disarmament, Human Rights, Migration, and Climate Change

  • FWCC Young Adult Friends Development Fund

    The availability of the new Young Adult Friends Development Fund is announced by Friends World Committee for Consultation and has been created from Quaker Youth Pilgrimage monies. FWCC has a preference for engaging in partnerships and for working across theological and cultural differences and across Sections. It is possible to apply for events and projects that benefit and strengthen the network of Young Adult Friends around the world according to the objectives and requirements. This could include anything from running a Quaker leadership training course to planning a World Gathering of Young Friends.
