Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions

The VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 17–18 September 2025 under the theme “Dialogue of Religions: Synergy for the Future”. It brought together delegations from dozens of countries, including senior religious leaders, international organizations and public figures, to address global tensions, humanitarian crises and the role of faith communities in promoting peace. Participants adopted the Astana Peace Declaration 2025, reaffirming commitments to mutual respect, cultural and religious diversity, and strengthened cooperation within the framework of the Congress’s 2023–2033 Development Concept.

The Congress is a triennial interfaith forum that convenes religious and political leaders to foster dialogue across traditions and to address global challenges through shared ethical principles. Adopted in 2022 and approved in 2024 at the XXI Session of the Secretariat, the Development Concept (2023–2033) outlines the long-term vision, mission and priorities guiding its activities.
