Jack Gordon explains how he hopes to contribute to interfaith endeavours and what will be crucial for the development of interfaith work in Washington and all over the world.

Faith in Action DC is a multimedia project that documents and celebrates the community service and social justice work of diverse people of faith throughout the Washington DC region. Faith in Action DC’s producer, Jack Gordon, is capturing images of the work of religious institutions, groups, and individuals who are serving the DC area. Through this project, local people of faith promote the Washington DC area as a model of interfaith cooperation for the common good.

Frank Fredericks explains the World Faith model of interfaith engagement and stresses how interreligious activity especially by young people holds a huge potential for social justice.

World Faith is an international NGO founded in 2008 by Frank Fredericks. The organization’s stated mission is to «counter religious extremism and strife by demonstrating how faith can inform work for unity and peace, rather than hate, war, and division». They aim to promote opportunities for interfaith dialogue through community service projects to foster genuine dialogue that is built around the shared values of service and to inspire project participants to build cross-identity friendships and strengthen the understanding of other religious traditions.

Vanessa Gomez explains the origins, purpose and goals of the Chaplaincy Institute. She also talks about the importance creating educational opportunities for youths.

The Chaplaincy Institute was founded by clergy who realized that there was a greater need for interfaith engagement between different religious traditions. Therefore the Institute began not only to educate its students in their own faith traditions but also to focus on other faiths as well. Graduates from this institute go on to different professions where they are able to apply their interfaith education in a practical manner.

Saanya Ali explains the origins of Capital Area Interfaith Friends and what motivates her as a young person to be involved in interfaith dialogue.
Capital Area Interfaith Friends is a youth group for teens and pre-teens located in Washington DC, USA. The group started out with seven people from Christian, Jewish and Muslim backgrounds who would get together during different religious holidays and have discussions. While it is focused on teens, it is also about connecting with people of different faiths over the things that unite them.
 

Mushim Ikeda speaks about her background and how she got involved in interfaith activities. She also talks about the vision and mission of the Easy Bay Meditation Center.
East Bay Meditation Center is a center that focuses on meditation and spiritual teachings from Buddhist and other wisdom traditions. The vision and mission of the center is that all are welcomed at the center but there is a particular focus on serving those coming from underserved communities. The other part of the centers mission is to bring together different faith traditions and cultures, even those who have no faith. What makes the East Bay Meditation Center different from other Buddhist centers is that their teachers also focus on social justice and the history of social justice.
 

Rachael Watcher explains the purpose behind the establishment of the North American Interfaith Network and her personal approach to interfaith.
North American Interfaith Network is located in California, USA. It covers the United States and Canada. The original leaders of the network thought it would be a good idea to connect with representatives of other faiths. They initially hosted a national gathering which proved to be successful and out of this came the North American Interfaith Network. Rachael Watcher speaks about her experience of bringing people to the North American Red Woods, which is her sacred space as a Wiccan. She goes on to explain that she does not think that interfaith dialogue is for everyone, however she does believe that it should be taking place on some level.
 

Mary Nelson describes what she loves about the Parliament of the World’s Religions and the need for youths to be involved in interfaith activities.
The Parliament of the World’s Religions aims to bring harmony between the various religious groups, faiths, and spiritual traditions in a way that works towards a more just, sustainable, and more peaceful community. This organization’s niche lies in operating a parliament that is not just another meeting or conference but rather it is a way of coming together to find solutions to the pressing issues of our times and to experience each other’s faiths in a genuine way.
