Dr. Abubaker Ahmed Al-Shingieti
Vice President for Preventive Engagement, International Centre for Religion and Diplomacy
Dr. Abubaker Ahmed Al-Shingieti is Vice President for Preventive Engagement of the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy, and is uniquely experienced in government affairs and diplomatic relations. He is strongly committed to interreligious reconciliation, and through his work at the Centre was a key figure in forming the first ever interreligious Council in Sudan. The Council bought together Sudanese Christians and Muslims who play the much needed role in reconciliation and peacebuilding. Dr. Shingieti earned a BSc. (Honors) in Architecture and a Graduate Diploma in African and Asian Studies from the University of Khartoum and has been a research associate at the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University. Previously, he served as editor of Islamic Horizons, a monthly magazine of the Islamic Society of North America. Moreover he was a founding member of the Society for Islamic Thought and Culture in Khartoum, Sudan. Finally, Al-Shingieti was a key participant in the international Higher Education Interfaith Leadership Forum.
