HIS GRACE DR. LUIGI BRESSAN
Former Archbishop of Trento, R.C. Archdiocese of Trento
His Grace, Archbishop Luigi Bressan, was born in 1940 in Trento (Italy) and was ordained Priest in 1964 and Bishop in 1989, promoted as Archbishop of Trento in 1999. He resigned because of age in 2016 and was appointed National Assistant of two Italian Associations dealing with development projects, climate, solidarity and pilgrimages. He obtained a Ph.D. in Church Law in 1971 and graduated et the Ecclesiastical Diplomatic Academy, speaking six modern languages. For twenty-eight years he served in the Diplomatic Service of the Catholic Church in Asia, Africa and Brazil and to the international institutions (Geneva and Strasbourg), being often in contact and dialogue with people of other tradition and credo. He had the opportunity to develop and exercise, at local and international level, his interfaith consciousness and action for peace, intercultural and interreligious dialogue with youth, academic people, Christians and people of other beliefs. Since four years Archbishop Bressan is one of the Vice-Moderators of the World Conference of Religions for Peace and authored a dozen of books on religious freedom in international law (1989), intercultural meeting of Christianity and Islam in arts (1995 & 2011), relations between the Church and Thai society (four volumes) and several articles.
