Aim

Support the values of democracy and respect human rights, assist the development of civil society, and encourage religious, cultural and ethnic tolerance.

History

Foundation in 1996 as a joint initiative of the late Czech President Václav Havel, Japanese philanthropist Yohei Sasakawa, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel.

IRD Activities

  • Interfaith Dialogue

    The project Interfaith Dialogue is a platform for representatives of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and other religions where they can discuss up-to-date issues regarding relations among religions. The Interfaith Dialogue platform is part of the Forum 2000 conference where participants from all over the world engage in interfaith dialogue. Main goals of the Interfaith Dialogue Project include: promotion of dialogue between religious leaders and representatives of politics and science, and international workshops on various interfaith issues.
