Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation
Aim
Help deepen reconciliation within and between communities on the island of Ireland and in selected contexts internationally.
History
Since 1974, Glencree has engaged in practical peacebuilding and reconciliation in Ireland, north and south, and more recently, internationally.
IRD Activities
- Religiously Motivated Violence
Glencree is working with and helping to develop an international network comprised of peace centres, the diplomatic community, UN institutions and faith leaders to address religiously motivated violence that is on the increase around the World today. Glencree is involved due to its 40 years’ peacebuilding experience in our own sectarian conflict and to share those experiences and learn from others in how to best reduce religiously related violence. Glencree is currently involved in the network’s steering group overseeing the development of pilot projects to ascertain how a global network can make a valuable contribution. For Glencree this will involve both work here in Ireland and internationally.
