IRD Activities

  • Interfaith Youth Peace Forum

Lead co-volunteers (Muslim and Christian) are assigned by community members to bring together 40 youth of different faiths drawn from the community, including beneficiaries of the community level training. The OFUG campaign toolkit should be used as a resource document to enlighten participating members. Occasionally, clergies (pastors and imams) and other identified role models within and outside communities may be invited to provide coaching and mentoring to the participating youth. The discussions sometimes dwell on experience sharing and identifying activities that can further unite them as youth such as sporting, community sanitation and other activities. During this forum, they should also discuss and come up with strategies in addressing issues relating to communal challenges

  • Interfaith Forum

Interfaith volunteers organize monthly interactive meetings to discuss ways that will mitigate hate speeches in public and places of worship. Followers of both faiths attend interactive meetings to have a better understanding of the message of the OFUG campaign. This forum provides participants with the opportunity to appreciate each other’s religion. The forum is used to identify and address existing tensions between Christians and Muslims. One pastor and one imam, nominated by the community members, are responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and ensuring the sustainability of the meetings.
