Aim

Support a regional inter-religious Asian movement for justice and transformation that focuses on marginalised communities, confront the roots of violence, promote justice in the economic, political, and social spheres.

History

Origins traced to the Consultation meeting on Interfaith Cooperation in Asia, which was held in Prapat, North Sumatera, Indonesia from 5-10 April 2003; This was jointly organised by Asia Pacific Alliance of YMCAs (APAY), Christian Conference of Asia (CCA), and Church Development Service (EED), Germany.

IRD Activities

  • School of Peace

    The School of Peace (SOP) was an idea born out of the Interfaith Cooperation Forum. The first SOP was held in Bangalore, India in 2006. The purpose of the SOP is to encourage engagement between peoples of different faiths in Asia. This is done through bringing together approximately 20 young adults from conflict areas of Asia who share different faith perspectives. Through lectures, exposure visits, and interaction with one another, the participants were able to learn about other faiths, and the importance of living with one another in peace

  • Online Resource Center

    The goal of this project was to establish a documentation centre where materials related to interreligious justpeace from around Asia can be collected and organized for regional use. This documentation center includes a database of regional resource persons who can serve as facilitators in interfaith justpeace meetings and activities

  • Interfaith Museum

    The virtual museum will contain images and descriptions of various symbols related to the various faith traditions.
