Inter Religious Federation for World Peace
Aim
Establish inter-religious councils that serve municipalities, nations, and the United Nations; consult and collaborate to offer wisdom and guidance to social, political and economic leaders to advance peace, prosperity, and wholesome life at all levels.
History
The Inter Religious Federation for World Peace (IRFWP) was founded in 1991 by Sun Myung Moon of Korea to bring under a single administration 14 years of global efforts for peace through interreligious dialogue, in a far reaching array of organisations, projects, and initiatives. In April 2013, IRFWP resumed international efforts for peace based on support from the Values in Knowledge Foundation.
IRD Activities
- Conferences/Dialogues
IRFWP organizes conferences and dialogues among and within religions
- Publications
IRFWP publishes extensively in the arena of religion and peace. Formats range from digital media and newsletters, through to its international award winning, scholarly periodical, and up to a significant number of prominent, path-breaking books in the field
- Service Projects
IRFWP through its subsidiary, youth divisions support interfaith projects that unfold through labor that is at once interfaith by project and definition, by interreligious youth workers, but serves areas of humanitarian need
- Shuttle Diplomacy
Interfaith is often thought of as pleasant chats over tea and sandwiches. IRFWP has been involved in tense and high level negotiations to dissolve war and conflict in substantial and emergency ways. These occasions require high level and quiet involvement of powerful leaders who guide their religious communities in ways that can dissolve commitments to conflict.
