See an African continent where Christians and Muslims uphold the principles of religious freedom and all that it entails and constructively relates to promote peace in the society and peaceful coexistence between Christian and Muslim communities, and jointly responding to environmental challenges.
History
The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) is the oldest and pioneer interfaith organisation in the continent of Africa, with a specific focus on Christians' relations with Muslims. Founded in 1959, PROCMURA is dedicated to promote within the churches in Africa: 1. Faithful Christian witness to the Gospel in an interfaith environment of Christians and Muslims; 2. Christian Constructive engagement with Muslims for peace and peaceful coexistence.
IRD Activities
- Interfaith Dialogue
PROCMURA promotes dialogue in Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso. Two reports about Christian and Muslim Religious Dialogue came from Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso. The first one was from a Christian and Muslim Religious Leaders consultation under the auspices of PROCMURA. The second was a Communique at the closing of a Christian and Muslim Religious Leaders Conference convened in Ouagadougou by PROCMURA
- Publications - From the Cross to the Crescent
This is the first in a new series of Occasional Papers to be published by the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa. The final papers in this collection examine aspects of interfaith dialogue, Dialogue for Peaceful Co-Existence between Christians and Muslims.
