Aim

Construct safe spaces and facilitate engagement and dialogue within a framework that is sensitive and responsive to the Islamic intellectual and theological environment.

History

Founded in the wake of the 7/7 attacks on the London underground, we promote a mainstream, moderate understanding of Islam that young people can relate to. Since 2005, Radical Middle Way has delivered over 230 programmes and events in the UK, Pakistan, Sudan, Indonesia, Mali, and Morocco.

IRD Activities

  • Engagement

British Muslims constitute more than 65 nationalities speaking over 100 languages and dialects. Radical Middle Way programmes help participants to learn and rediscover the skills needed to engage in meaningful debate and discussion about practicing and living faith in a modern, secular, and diverse society. By helping people engage, Radical Middle Way helps build bridges across divided communities. RMW is well established as a resource centre for young Muslims in the UK and across the globe. The Shaykha Halima Krausen Tour is part of the 'Engagement' initiative. Over four days in March 2009, seven events with Shaykha Halima Krausen have been held, a leading European female scholar. The events included a study day, public lectures and discussions, interfaith dialogue as well as small roundtables. Through RMW's programmes they were able to create unique opportunities for this inspirational figure to interact with young people across the UK. In just four days, Shaykha Halima Krausen engaged with 500 people.
