History

At the Second Interfaith Peace Forum held establishment of the Interreligious Council of the CIS with the support of the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia. The forum was attended by 23 religious leaders representing all the CIS countries and leading religious traditions.

    The forums, summits, and meetings organised by the Council are attended by religious leaders representing the CIS countries and leading religious traditions. Those events target joint decisions on several issues such as combating extremism and terrorism, prohibiting the use of religion to justify violence.
