Its mission is to enhance grassroots communities' participation in achieving the overall IFAPA aim of involving faith communities in working together to promote peace in Africa. One of the focal points of the summit is inter-faith dialogue and cooperation for peace in Africa.
- IFAPA Youth Desk
The Youth Desk is IFAPA's Youth Hand that provides a platform for religious communities and other actors to engage on thematic issues that are affecting peace within the continent. Using interfaith dialogue and cooperation as a platform for peace, IFAPA Youth Desk has been able to accomplish the following among others: collection of Youth voices that are feeding into high level meetings, establishment of the African Youth decade Alliance, establishment of a functional continental coordination desk, establishment of youth networks on the entire five sub-regions ion Africa, holding of a continental inter-faith youth consultation where the youth drew their own road map called the “the youth in Me” on which the youth Desk operates, holding of youth Peace Camp where youth from conflict zones came together with their counter-parts in less conflict experienced youth to share stories and learn from each other, youth delegation attendance of the IFAPA summit and commissions to have interactions with religious leaders from different countries as well as learn more about the IFAPA peace model
- IFAPA Women Desk
All over Africa gender-based violence remains a challenge and IFAPA is ready to work with willing partners to help curb the vice. IFAPA also realised the fact that 'there is a hidden potentiality in women towards conflict resolution and peace-making that can only be tapped and utilised effectively through inclusive approaches to address gender-based violence as a weapon of war, increased human trafficking and poverty' among others. The desk has been established to promote an agenda for involving women in the process of addressing these issues. The Women's Desk was established as an outcome of the South African Summit with the mandate to launch the Mother's Cry Campaign all over Africa and engage the women in the identification of issues and in proposing concrete actions to tackle the issues from grassroots level.
