Interfaith Tour
Aim
To shed light on the different types of interreligious and interfaith actions that are efficient as effective tools for peace in the world .
History
Between July 2013 and June 2014, a group of young French students decided to undertake a journey of interfaith initiatives. Sparknews (Impact Journalism) and Coexister (French interfaith youth movement) have built up this project together, at a time when religions are more and more subject to fundamentalism and prone to pursue political objectives.
IRD Activities
- Interfaith Tour
Joint project with Sparknews, in which French youngsters travel around the world every two years to encounter interreligious activities and organisations in order to promote them and do research on the interfaith field around the world. As they strive to be both mobile yet deeply involved in each country, they have decided together to crisscross the five continents. There are two kinds of stays: one-month-stays in the key regions of interfaith dialogue (Israel and Palestine, Turkey, India, Malaysia and the US), the rest of the journey being a road-trip throughout the world's continents. Since 2012, we have organized 3 world tours (seasons 2013-2014, 2015-2016 and 2017-2018) which have given rise to the study of 80 countries and the identification of more than 1,200 interfaith initiatives. These meetings led to the conduct of nearly 900 interviews and the production of more than 140 videos shared on social networks. Upon their return, the 3 teams were able to sensitize 15,000 people during the restitution tours, through around 150 conferences and 100 awareness workshops in 85 cities in France. The 4 world tour (season 2019-2020) is currently undergoing.
