Dr. Carmen Asiaín Pereira is a senator in the Parliament of Uruguay and former president of the Latin American Consortium for Religious Liberty. Dr. Asiain is also a professor of Law and Religion at the University of Montevideo and a professor of Law and Religion at the Facultad de Teología del Uruguay Monseñor Mariano Soler. She has been part of many panels and conferences, including at the UN, regarding issues of religious liberty, and law and religion. She is a member of the Judeo-Christian Fellowship and a founding member and vice-president of the Instituto de Derecho Religioso del Estado in Uruguay, and of the International Advisory Council, Canon Law and Ecclesiastical Law General Journal.
