African Council of Religious Leaders General Assembly
The African Council for Religious Leaders – Religions for Peace (ACRL-RfP) is a coalition of various faith organizations, faith communities and religious leaders in the continent, working together through National Inter-religious Councils from 28 countries and four sub-regional platforms to advance peace, sustainable development and shared well-being.
In August 2025, more than 200 faith leaders and partners gathered in Nairobi for the 5th General Assembly of the African Council of Religious Leaders – Religions for Peace (ACRL-RfP), described as a “Gathering of Conscience”. From multi-faith opening invocations to the final blessing, the Assembly underscored that Africa’s future rests on shared moral leadership. Participants adopted the Nairobi Declaration on Shared Sacred Flourishing, launched the Strategic Plan 2025–2030, and committed to advancing peace, human dignity, climate resilience, youth and women’s leadership, and the protection of religious freedom.
