Worship for WASH Interfaith Summit
The Global Interfaith Wash Alliance (GIWA) was launched during the 2013 United Nations General Assembly Meetings at UNICEF Headquarters in New York under sponsorship of USAID and the Government of the Netherlands. GIWA’s vision is a watersecure world in which universal access to safe drinking water, improved sanitation and proper hygiene will be achieved by inspiring and equipping leaders to collaborate across faiths, nations, and populations for the
health and well-being of all.
From its Worship for WASH Summits to large-scale public events and beyond, leaders and communities join forces, and hands, to save lives to bring about a healthier, happier, more peaceful world. The last Worship for WASH Interfaith Summit was held in August 2016 in Ladakh. The “Worship for WASH” GIWA-UNICEF Ladakh Summit initiated a dialogue on critical issues of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Health), specifically in the Ladakh region. The Summit discussed the inter-linkage of multiple issues of inequity, lack of access and other related issues in the region, with special focus on minority populations.
