Aim

The Table aims to be a public organization which facilitates and promotes dialogue in all its forms, and also takes care of important social matters by fostering local social partnerships from a plural perspective.

History

The First Municipal Interreligious Program was launched in March 2011, when the agreement was signed between the Municipality of Bahia Blanca and the National Secretary for Worship to facilitate the submission of non-Catholic religious organizations to the National Register of Worship. The aim was to valorize distinct interreligious festivities. In 2015, it was sanctioned the Ordinance 18.3333, creating the Municipal Office for Worship, which was immediately ratified by the local City's Mayor, and finally became official on July 7th, 2016. At the same time, the interreligious participation of all religious communities on all National and Local Holiday Days was formally established. One year later, the Interreligious Table of Bahia Blanca was established with its own statute by Ordinance 18.333 in 2017. Considering the Table's success, the "Intercultural and Interreligious Days" (Jornadas Interculturales e Interreligiosas) were established in 2019. As a result, the city's mayor created the Deputy Direction for Worship which works under the Secretary of Government of Bahia Blanca. The Directorate for Worship of the Municipality of Bahia Blanca was then created by the Ordinance 18.3333 as a public organization which facilitates and promotes dialogue in all its forms, and also takes care of important social matters by fostering local social partnerships from a plural perspective.
