UNESCO Chair in Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue for South-East Europe
Aim
Promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation in the field of intercultural and interreligious dialogue for South-East Europe; serve as a means of facilitating collaboration between high-level, internationally recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in Austria and elsewhere in Europe and North America, and in other regions of the world; study common grounds and divergences between different religious traditions, particularly in South-East Europe; contribute to peaceful coexistence of the different cultures and religions, especially in South-East Europe; coordinate the teaching and research on intercultural, ecumenical and interreligious contacts and dialogue in South-East Europe within the Theological Faculty (in close cooperation with experts at other faculties of the University of Graz; reinforce the knowledge and awareness on intercultural and Interreligious issues in South-East Europe; participate in the UNITWIN Network on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue.
History
The UNESCO Chair in Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue for South-East Europe was established in 2007 at The Karl-Franzens University, Graz.

The objectives of this area of focus include serving as a means of facilitating collaboration between high-level, internationally recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in Austria and elsewhere in Europe and North America, and in other regions of the world, studying common grounds and divergences between different religious traditions, particularly in South-East Europe, contributing to peaceful coexistence of the different cultures and religions, especially in South-East Europe, coordinating the teaching and research on intercultural, ecumenical and interreligious contacts and dialogue in South-East Europe within the Theological Faculty, reinforcing the knowledge and awareness on intercultural and Interreligious issues in South-East Europe, and participating in the UNITWIN Network on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue.
