Biography Narrative

Born in 1981, Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Morteza Karimi joined the Seminary of Qom in 1995 and, during this time, has learned and taught Islamic fields of study such as Quran and Hadith, Islamic philosophy and theology, history of Islam, jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence. He holds a BA in Islamic theology, an MA in Abrahamic Religions from the University of Religions and Denomination, and a PhD in Shiite theology from the University of Tehran. He speaks Arabic, Persian and English and has published more than 40 books and articles in Persian and English. Currently, in addition to writing on Islamic studies and teaching at various universities, he collaborates as a researcher with the International Institute for Islamic Studies. He has also been a visiting lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe for a year, teaching about the history and doctrines of Islam. He has participated in several conferences on interfaith dialogue, including ‘The Status of Women in Islam, Christianity and African Traditional Religions’, which was held in Harare in 2018.
