Youssef Edward Morqs Ayoob
Biography Narrative
Youssef Edward Morqs is from Egypt. He holds a postgraduate diploma in learning and teaching and a Bachelor of Arts from the psychology department from Helwan University, Egypt. Youssef is deputy manager of the Forum for Intercultural Dialogue Programs and manager of the Media Professionals Programs at the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services.
From 2001-2008 he taught psychology in several Egyptian high schools.
Youssef is a social media activist promoting peace, coexistence and interreligious dialogue. He participated in several seminars and conferences, including KAICIID’s Social Media as a Space for Interreligious Dialogue initiative. He is committed to intercultural dialogue and breaking barriers between groups in conflict, reinforcing citizenship, acceptance of diversity and interreligious dialogue.
Interreligious Activities and Initiatives
Towards Building a Media Discourse in Support of Religious Tolerance and Co-existence
This Is a joint initiative between Hani Dawa and Yusuf Edward from Egypt, through which the fellows seek to consolidate the values of citizenship within the Egyptian community and accept cultural differences.
Part I: Training of the media centers of religious institutions as well as various media organizations on promoting the values of citizenship, coexistence, the value of global peace, dialogue and tolerance with others.
Part II: The production of a short film about the importance of co-existence and the acceptance of the other in an influential way, through a story – trying to be derived from a real story – to touch the feelings of those who watch and can make an impact towards the positive change of perceptions.
