Become a centre of excellence in research on Islam and contemporary issues. Focus on selected areas of research including the intellectual development of Islam Hadhari and the Islamic principles and doctrines on which it is founded.
Serve as a think tank in the field of Islamic education, culture and knowledge; formulate a comprehensive Islamic vision and methodology that will help Muslim scholars in their critical analysis of contemporary knowledge; develop an appropriate methodology for understanding the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet; develop an appropriate methodology for dealing with Islamic legacy and contemporary knowledge, in order to draw on the experiences of both past and present, to build a better future for the Ummah and humanity at large; develop an appropriate methodology for understanding and dealing with the present situation of both the Ummah and the world in general, and the field of education in particular, in view of contemporary challenges and opportunities.
Promote understanding and cooperation among Buddhist countries, Buddhist sects, and socially conscious Buddhist groups; identify and address the structural and personal suffering facing our communities, societies, and the world; articulate the perspective of engaged Buddhism regarding this suffering, and to train Buddhist activists to respond effectively; serve as a network of information and resources on engaged Buddhism; cooperate and collaborate with activists from other spiritual traditions and social change organisations.
The Table aims to be a public organization which facilitates and promotes dialogue in all its forms, and also takes care of important social matters by fostering local social partnerships from a plural perspective.
