Advance intrareligious, interreligious, and intercultural dialogue and engagement around the world, by supporting scholarship, training, and action; promote the principle that dialogue flourishes through interpersonal relationships grounded in trust, mutual respect, and a common search for understanding; teach the skills of critical thinking and deep dialogue that develop the capacity to reconcile differences, such that a healthy civic society can create a quality of life for all citizens in a community, through both political and nonpolitical processes.

Promote mutual understanding, respect and cooperation among people of diverse faiths and cultures by creating opportunities for direct communication and meaningful shared experiences.

Respond proactively to the incessant destruction of lives and property, the polarization of Christian and Muslim settlement in Jos and environs, the ‘revenge’ mentality among youths, and the gap created by prejudice and ignorance of religion; work to break the barriers existing between people of different ethnic, religious and cultural affiliations by encouraging them to talk openly, honestly and with respect for one another, thereby diffusing the hurt and anger they feel towards one another; provide a safe space for dialogue and reconciliation among diverse groups in Plateau State and beyond.

Seek for constructive dialogue among followers of religions in order to better understand the principles of religious teachings to be harnessed to the service of humanity, based on mutual respect and recognition of di_x001D_erences, in collaboration with individuals and relevant institutions.; be a leading model in achieving peaceful coexistence between followers of different faiths and an international reference for interfaith dialogue; activate religious values in finding solutions to problems and issues that concern humanity; broaden the scope of dialogue to include aspects of life that interact with religion; increase the network of those involved in dialogue to include researchers, academics and those who are concerned with the relationship between religious values and real life issues; become an authority that provides academic, educational and training information in the field.

Faithful to their project of studying Arab Islam from its sources and cultivating a fertile academic and interreligious dialogue, the members of IDEO are engaged, in Egypt and the rest of the world, in different research projects. IDEO regularly organizes lectures, conferences and seminars.
