Bring people together from across the Mediterranean to improve mutual respect between cultures and to support civil society working for a common future for the region; contribute to the development of an Intercultural Strategy for the Euro-Mediterranean Region, providing recommendations to decision-makers and institutions and advocating for shared values; overcome the misunderstandings and stereotypes which affect relations between and within the societies of the region; restore trust in dialogue and bridge the gaps in mutual perceptions, as well as promoting diversity and coexistence.

Study the economic, social and cultural relations in the Arab world, and examine them with other countries in order to strengthen dialogue and promote cooperation, in ways that serve mutual interests; contribute to the formation of an Arab scientific stance towards development problems so as to achieve an effective contribution towards the formulation of global order, and place international relations on a fair and equal basis that serves economic integration; build bridges between thought leaders and decision-makers in the Arab world to serve cooperation among them in public policies, and ensure public participation; focus attention towards future studies relating to the affairs of Arab countries and their international relations.

Strengthen faith by mobilising support of the different faith groups, not only in Cambodia but also in Southeast Asia and in the broader Asia-Pacific region, to work for peace, development and harmony in order to achieve a peaceful coexistence of the people in Asia and beyond; fosters constructive inter-faiths dialogue through broad participation in order to promote trust-building and reconciliation as well as societal development; ameliorate the lives of diverse people around the world; enhance dialogue among different stakeholders, including the different faith groups; promote understanding, confidence building, mutual trust, reconciliation and tolerance among the faith groups and other stakeholders; foster interactive debate and engaging discussion on development issues, such as poverty, that significantly interest a wide spectrum of people in the Asia-Pacific region; encourage cooperation, collaboration and partnership among the key actors in faiths and development groups, including youth and younger generations; support human rights education, development, and faith as the catalysts for positive change and transformation at the community, national, regional, and international levels.

Advance mutual understanding and collaboration between the people of Asia and Europe through intellectual, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges; act as the civil society outreach of the Asia-Europe Meeting; work as a platform for Asia-Europe dialogue to stimulate permanent networks that reinforce Asia-Europe bi-regional relations; act as an interface between civil society and ASEM governments and consequently, contributes to the ASEM process by generating unique recommendations for officials' consideration.

Work with religious communities to develop religious leaders highly skilled in and knowledgeable about leadership in multifaith and plural societies and in addressing the personal and social challenges in a rapidly evolving world through professional pre-service and in-service programmes.

Inspire and empower God's family in AMECEA to a credible and prophetic witness to Christ by promoting unity, justice, peace, and solidarity through deeper evangelisation, constant conversion and prayer, inculturation, ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue; relevant formation of all agents of evangelisation; revitalisation, and continued emphasis on the role of the small Christian communities in evangelisation; preferential option for the poor, oppressed, and marginalised, particularly refugees, persons affected and infected with HIV/AIDS, and internally displaced people; empowering the laity and the religious men and women to play their active roles in the Church and society; self-reliance in personnel and finances at all levels; networking, effective communication and advocacy; poverty eradication, sustainable development, and relevant response to all issues affecting God's family.

The Department of Religious Studies offers a Bachelor Degree in religious studies that concentrates on the study of Christianity from a Catholic and ecumenical point of view. It seeks to meet the spiritual and academic needs of all its students, and promotes the study of religion at university level. The program aims at promoting an appreciation of the religious culture of the Holy Land in an ecumenical and interfaith atmosphere. The department contributes in a special way to the mission of Bethlehem University by preparing qualified graduates to teach Catechism, to participate in the mission of the local church, to be positive members of the churches and society and to be qualified to continue higher education. By limiting enrollment and having smaller class sizes, the learning process is personalized and formative. Besides the academic goals, the department offers ecclesiastical, ecumenical, and personal formation for its students. Several activities accompany the academic formation to make learning a more enjoyable journey. The language of Instruction is Arabic, with English as a second language.
