ECOWAS dedicates itself to the mission of evangelisation bearing in mind that this is the primary mission of the Church. In doing this, it is committed to following through the words of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who came to serve and not to be served(Mt. 20:28). In fulfilling this mission, ECOWAS seeks partnership with the governments of our region to ensure a better life for our people.
Lead efforts to advance effective multi-religious cooperation for peace on global, regional, national and local levels, while ensuring that the religious communities organized on these same levels assume and exercise appropriate leadership and ownership of these efforts.
Serve as a neutral regional multi-religious convener for Syrian religious leaders as they advance multi-religious cooperation to stem sectarian violence, advance reconciliation, and assist the Syrian population on its arduous path through the current violent crisis into a transitional phase and ultimately toward a renewed political order; advance citizenship, religious freedom and the protection of minorities; achieve moral consensus on a regional level for these topics to support and augment similar necessary efforts to be undertaken on national levels; respect the centrality of the role of religion in the region, while harnessing its significant assets in the service of public life; continue in this path to advance positive change, protect religious freedom and advance a positive culture of pluralism across the MENA region.
Urge and motivate all religious adherents in Myanmar to make concerted and conscientious efforts at promoting peace and harmony; promote the sharing of knowledge amongst religious communities, of their respective principles and values to build a peaceful and harmonious society in Myanmar and the world at large; create a forum for deliberating and articulating common interests and concerns; plan and implement collaborative actions based on shared moral commitments in Myanmar and worldwide; promote respect for unique traditions and differences in belief and action; and connect, liaise and cooperate with national and international religious bodies, organizations, communities and societies to promote and enhance lasting peace and universal harmony.
Create and maintain a fluid and permanent relationship with the different confessions, churches and religious organizations of the commune and to guarantee the freedom of worship, promoting their participation in community action, from the Human Rights perspective.
Educate the global business community about how religious freedom is good for business, and engage the business community in joining forces with government and non-government organizations in promoting respect for freedom of religion or belief (FoRB); emphasize on helping businesses foster interfaith understanding and peace; envision a global future of innovative and sustainable economies where freedom of religion or belief and diversity are respected.
