The aim of the organisation is to research, develop and disseminate the religious fact focusing specifically as a human quality. It is also important to promote interreligious dialogue and interculturality to spread the cultivation of human quality. Another aim is to favor the viability of human quality from the conditions of techno-scientific societies of continuous change. Fundamentally, study spiritual traditions as a source of wisdom.
EDyR aims at being an academic space of analysis, reflection and participation in relation to all subjects linked to rights and religions, especially in regard to the right to freedom of religion and conscience, and in matters of the relations carried out between States and religions.
Monitor the development in the social, political, and ecclesiastical life and to represent the concerns of Catholics in public; give suggestions for the apostolic work of the Church and of Catholics in society; contribute to the ecclesiastical decisions on the diocesan level and to advise the German Bishops' Conference on issues of social, political and ecclesiastical life; prepare and undertake joint initiatives and events of German Catholics; observe the concerns and responsibilities of German Catholics abroad and at international level; contribute to the implementation and compliance with relevant measures.
Serve as acatalyst for internal and external peace in South Asia through process of discourse and dialogue- a process that seeks to promote a peaceful approach to the resolution of conflict with justice and equity, and the eventual goal of reconciliation.

Promote mutual understanding and esteem between Christians and Jews, based on the common spiritual heritage, through biblical and theological studies as well as fraternal dialogue, in accordance with the declaration Nostra Aetate of the Second Vatican Council; Strengthen the roots of our faith, trying to know the Jewish environment, ideas, customs, festivals and religious rites in which Christianity began to develop; approach today’s Jews through mutual understanding, dialogue and coexistence to thereby combat prejudices and establish with them a sincere brotherhood.
The aim is to make known Judaism and the Jewish roots of Christianity, the person of Jesus and the environment in which he lived as a Jew. It focuses on the study of the Bible, the Word of God for Jews and Christians. It aims to promote mutual knowledge and true friendship; deepen what unites Jews and Christians, and respect the differences. The Centre works against the prejudices that engendered the false accusations of ritual crimes, anti-Jewish concepts based on an erroneous interpretation of the Holy Scriptures, and other discriminatory opinions that are still often expressed on many occasions. The Centre reflects on the meaning of the Shoah, of the Covenant never repealed, of the meaning of the Land for the people of Israel and the new teachings of Pope John Paul II about Judaism and relations with the Jewish people, and their application in exegesis and theology.
